Dress Up For the Future...

A couple of weeks before my graduation day, my fashion blogger friend Mike Magallanes invited me to watch their first fashion show. Mike and Karl Leuterio are the founders and designers of the clothing line Paradigm Shift. I'm not really into this kind of thing, given that my fashion is limited to a collection of checkered polo shirts, high cut sneakers, black leather boots and a couple of weekend bags which I love to mix and match. But believe me, being around him and his group of uber-creative and artisitic friends is always a riot, and that, you know I am so into.

The fashion show was held at the Republic in Resorts World. It wasn't just a fashion show. It was the launching of the project Isang Litrong Liwanag. And to make the event shine even brighter, fashion designers collaborated with the ILL team and presented collections inspired by the project.

Fifteen designers presented three pieces each from the collections they created solely for the event. Below are snapshots of the pieces created by the other designers.

And here are the pieces created by Mike and Karl.

I love their creations. Their style reminds me of the boys and girls I used to see in the streets of Sakae. Street fashion at its best.

You see, I don't think that these are the clothes you would see in magazines. But it's not about selling. It's about art, and reaching for the few people who have the guts to defy the laws of the conventional.

Big changes are about to happen. I wouldn't know about all of them. But there is one thing I am sure of.

Paradigm Shift is the future of Philippines' fashion.

So dress up for the future.

Wear Paradigm Shift!!!!

I have a friend who's like this. I can remember when her outrageous fashion style was being laughed at. But she remained faithful with her art.

She started with bazaars. Ngayon, her designs are being exported to Macy's in NIYC and regularly seen in fashion magazines.
